the little guy
I thought I will fill in the gaps from where I left off on Jake’s site almost a year ago.
Our little guy is now 4 years old and I continue to stay home with him. After our long stay in the Philippines for the wedding, we’ve just been home pretty much. We recently had family stay with us for a good 5 months, so that kept everyone busy.
Winter was hard on him. We did a few trips to the ped when his asthma flared up, and the nebulizer was in constant use in our household. And oh, the dreaded first trip to the ER happened in early spring. I won’t go into details anymore. Let’s just say curious Jake learned his first lesson about the body’s anatomy, and almost gave me a heart attack in the process! Definitely a rite of passage for first-time parents like me and A. Glad we survived that.
On the brighter side, he is showing excellent progress on how to live with his food allergies. He knows what he’s allergic to, he asks if the food is safe for him, especially when we are not around, and he knows some basic signs of an allergic reaction.
Anyone who offers him food, he quizzes …“this has no allergies?”… and his adorable spiel on food allergies will follow. Guess where he learned that from? *wink*
He loves bible stories (Jonah and the Whale being his current favorite), and leads our prayers before meals and bedtime. He helps me wash the veggies, we bake his treats, make Jell-O, and sometimes he sets the table… sloppy, but at least he’s trying to help out. He’s a wonderful, energetic and caring kid who live life with gusto.
Right now, he’s enjoying the simple joys of summer. He swims in our hot tub with his dad, eat ice pops –lots of them, catch fireflies, walk aimlessly with his flashlight, and play outside until he’s pooped. As long as mom is around, he is the happiest little guy around. :)

I agreed with you
Jake inspires me. Blogging helps our family stay connected with everyone.
